Having to be an adult and do important things can be so hard , so sometimes ( a few times, okay maybe most of the time) when we tend to give in to our temptation and do something else instead.
As we've reached the end of the year I've felt that this year I've been stuck in an endless cycle of procrastination.
I say it's time we prepare for 2017 and try to reduce our procrastination to an acceptable limit ( because let's face it stopping procrastination completely isn't going to happen).
Below are three different types of procrastinating styles I've found and they ways how to overcome them
The Perfortinators
The perfortinators are people who would like to believe they perform better under pressure.
And this may work, but how long can we keep it up before we eventually burn out and turn into a heaping sob
Therefore I propose for those perfotinators out there we set ourselves deadlines, where we feel the pressure without actually dying of all the stress we inflict on ourselves.
Quick Tip: Get an accountability partner to keep track on your progress for that added pressure you feel you would need to actually do work.
For the Busycrastnators
Us busycrastnators delude ourselves into thinking we're doing something productive when in reality we're really just avoiding the task at hand.
I believe it all boils down to the feeling of restlessness. So I propose whenever we feel the need to do something else we don't beat ourselves up about it instead just set small goals and realign ourselves back to work.
For the Fearanators
The fearanators among us are people who are too paralysed by fear.
It's probably difficult to change that fear but I believe instead of fearing we need to change our mindset of fearing failure and seeing failure as a stepping stone to learning something new.
If you could identify with these constant need to want to do something else then tell me about it or better yet help me get better at not procrastinating by commenting below!
